Mopac and Jeff Jones

It's been really nice here in Lincoln the past couple days. Thursday I got a 40 mile rails to trails ride in on my Surly, still 46 x 18. It was about 65 deg here. On the way back, Tony Wilhelm an old friend from high school and a guy who's updated my bontrager and built a bike for me. He also got me going on learning to do my own wrenchin too. Anyway, if you've ever done a big midwest cross race there's a good chance he passed you:) He's got a stable of Serottas, but is as modest and easy going as they come. So we had a nice quick ride back into Lincoln. I really enjoyed getting my Surly moving with a decent tailwind. With a few miles left I was suckin wind, I probly outta keep a better eye on my Asthma sometimes, oh well, post ride biker's high is more fun:)

I got to my usual tradition of drooling and loitering at Monkey Wrench and Cycle works. I can't help getting a little glassy eyed, I'll have to let Nate at MW know to feel free to kick me out if he's got stuff to do! Nah, he's a much more informed, and in touch bike guy than I'll ever be. Proof of that's his Jeff Jones space frame ride. Very cool to see it in person, and even cooler that the first thing he says is "take it for a spin". You don't truly appreciate the experience of riding all kinds of bikes until you let just about anyone take a spin on your very newly built up $3k +++ bike. I won't be able to explain it, but needless to say, just a couple spins around downtown city streets puts a big grin on your face. Who needs a suspension fork when you've a Jeff Jones Ti fork? When you're in Lincoln go buy something from the 6th largest (non-online) dealer of Surlys:) Thanks Nate.
