So I finally found a really good job/internship for the summer. I'll be working for Sauer Danfoss. It should really help my career. I'll be doing a lot of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Machining (CAM) with some really powerful software I haven't used yet. So with some work for that, and an extra 10 hours working for my professor, there should definitely be some funding for my main habit - biking. The downside is, that after working a bit to hone in on experiments for my thesis work, I won't have much time left. Trust me though, I'm completely aware of the tradeoffs, and never hope to be one of those work-aholics that never ride, and once in awhile pop in to their LBS and drop 5-10k on a new Ti frame. I think a lot of work now for my career will allow me to work less, and still afford a good selection of rides. I'm basically trying to get to a point where I can work for a really small company or for myself to allow a lot more time for riding:)
So luckily I can look into getting my first 29er. Been really researching the Kona Kula 2-9 and still am considering something 853/true temper steel. The niner does still look good. Then if money permits, look into a commuter/SS/fixed gear Karate Monkey or move my Cross-Check's parts to a Gunnar or old Poprad.
