After a long, but successful weekend at the coffee shops working on my thesis, I needed a ride. But first, I had to head over to do a little lifting at the Rec. But then it was Hamburger Helper, and then out on the Bianchi. I couldn't believe it, no wind! Knock on wood of course. I also had to make sure, with the heavy cloud cover, that there wouldn't be any rain either. Thankfully, neither showed up, and I had a quick ride out and back. The undercarriage wasn't quite sure what I was doing, but I swear, that seat takes some time to start flexing again. Oh, and I also got out late Saturday night for a really fast night ride through town on my Surly. Little buggy up by Ada Hayden.
Then yesterday I also talked to some relatives from CO. They really want me to get out there. We'll see, I'll have to figure out how to get out of work early. I can always use the extra week of money to get out there after I graduate though.
It's so hard, I could definitely setup a decent Santa Cruz XC dual suspension bike for the same cost as the Kona Kula 2-9er . But I would really only make the most out of it if I took it on trips. The Kula would even make a decent commuter, decent Trans-Iowa trainer, amazing racer, and lighting fast singletracker. It's so easy to convince myself I am making the wrong decision on a bike. "Should I go steel", etc... But I'm pretty sure, this week I'll call over to Monkey Wrench in Lincoln, and figure out how to get it ordered. Then this weekend, or next I'll go pick it up.
I'm probably doing the Tuesday night fixie ride.

Andrew Carney and Paul Varnum are hitting the Pits at 9pm. You game? I thought I'd try to do both, but if you'd rather hit the trails it'd make my decision easier.
Bring lights if you do. And Paul is promising beer afterward, so we won't go dry with either option.
Hmmm, tempting. Ok, you convinced me. That works better for me going late anyway. I dont' have much for lighting, just a small Cateye front and Planet Bike rear light. You guys going to meet at the East Peterson entrance? Any reason going so late? Either way I'll probably do that instead.
Cool. Last week's fixed ride was fun, but this sounds more fun just now.
9pm at East Peterson, and I don't know the reason other than it'll be fun.
BTW, there will be plenty of other lights, so you should be fine. Although you may feel a bit of lumen-envy.
