How Bout this?

  • Surly Karate Monkey Frame
  • Comfy (On One Mary) bars
  • Dimension cross cranks ($40, square taper!)
  • Michelin Transworld Sprints 40mm width
  • LX/XT V brakes
  • SRAM 3 speed internally geared hub:

Spectro T3
  • $106.95
  • Shifter not included
  • 186% gear range
  • Nutted, solid 152mm axles
  • 19t
  • Weight 911 g
Ok, so I'm a dork. I got the weight of a XT hub, cassette, and Der. Total: 960g. The XT hub itself is 435 (for single speed comparison).

Ok, so not sure if I'd spring for that, but it'd be fun. I took a look at my Kona's stock wheels. They're soon to be replaced. The disc mount got me thinking. I'm going to use V-brakes, with a karate monkey or something. Then I'll do SS cassette cog. Then how about bolting on a disc cog and running it as fixed/free??? I could space the BB and cassette cog so that they're in-line with the disc cog:) It'd be fun. Disc fixed, 2.55 WTB Weirwolfs, and snow?!
