I threw on some nano raptor 29er tires I bought off ebay. I am usually good with technical details of bike parts, but I can't figure this one out. Do I have a kevlar or wire bead nano raptor? I can fold them and it says "DNA" on the side, which is WTB's rubber compound trade name. But if you go to their site, they say that they only have one 29er nano that's folding. Then you go to speedgoat, and you can find a wire, and kevlar. The Kevlar's really light, 582g, the wire 700. I tried weighing mine and I think it went to 700 (maxed out the scale around 650 that I had), so kind of a bummer there. But still, I can't say for sure which ones I have. There's no picture, or way to define one from the other.
Either way, they're awesome tires. I got them mounted and took them for a pavement spin, just brilliant!!! (TM Guiness Inc). I couldn't believe how quiet they are. They were so quick on that center tread.

They have a much truer 2.1 width, the ignitors are probably 2.2+. I also prefer the nice round corners, can't wait to corner with them. So when is it worth buying new gear? When it alone gets me to ride immediately! So I think I'm headed out to Seven Oaks today, unbelievable day so I hope to spend the afternoon out there. Maybe it'll clear my head a bit to hit up more thesis and homework stuff tonight/tomorrow:)

just cut open the bead and look. if it's a wire bead, it'll be kind of metally-looking, and if it's kevlar it'll look more like plastic.
