New Stuff

Got my helmet in today:

Also, I finally won an ebay auction for a 531 steel lugged road frame. It's a Trek 1978 frame. It's the "touring" geometry, which should make for about the comfiest geometry possible. It's got campy dropouts, for extra long chain adjustment. And hopefully it's got some decent tire clearance for winter snow riding. Thanks to everyone who has helped me try to find a frame, I'm about as picky as they come:) Now I just gotta transfer over as many parts from my IRO as possible. Then add a tasty Salsa threaded stem and threaded headset. And probably need to find a seatpost, not sure what size it is. Now if I could find a Karate Monkey frame, I'd be set for a year (maybe?)!

After a comment from Carney. I had to find out, looks like they came out of the factory with only one sticker on the seat tube:

I did a lot of checking here: http://www.vintage-trek.com/TrekBrochures.htm

before I bought it. Great site.

Is that an old 520? Looks like a load of classic sexyness to me.

I think it's missing some stickers....maybe that's just me?

Hahah, thanks Marc, it is all that is sexyness. I should have posted this one pic where the paint sorta sparkles. Alright, that's starting to sound fruity. You're close, it's not a 520, but it would be the same style as a 520, light touring geometry. The 520 of 1978-1979 (according to the serial #).

Hey Carney. Yeah, I like the stripped down look though. I looked online, (and edited the post to include pics) the trek vintage website brochure shows it exactly as is, just one seat tube sticker. Nice job at 7 oaks by the way. 15 is still a monstrous total, specially given your mechanicals.

So that didn't work.

No, what I intended was that you need to plaster that thing with your own stickers....some like this one

or

/PROD/greens/mcs173

Hahah, that shits great. Thanks Carney. It would definitely make it a more urban/messenger fixie!

All I got now is a Bianchi "your bike sucks" sticker. That's it. So I gotta get on that. Thanks for the links.
