Custom Carbon Anyone?
Some of you have seen the lab where I work (as a research assistant). It is a "Rapid Manufacturing" lab. So there are lots of equipment that enable someone to go from designing to making a part very quickly. Well, for a class project my office mate Xiaoming and I made a proposal for a custom carbon fiber parts making machine. The yellow is a spray foam that could be extruded with a CNC machine nozzle into any shape. Then a carbon strip roller would apply strips to the foam using the same CNC machine to control the roller movements. Mix in some epoxy and some curing, and you've got a part:)

Alex, check out fgg and enter "Eric Herboth" in the word-finder. Then check out the Raleigh Record he has! Somewhat larger bike I think, but I'll be damned if that's not a Michael's shop sticker on the down tube! Small world huh? Except for the 60cm frame:\ Later!
Nice, those are definitely some "travel gravel tires". If you do anything with it you gotta keep the blue housing. Nice find.
