Workhorse

I was chatting with Wade from Skunk yesterday and we talked a bit about the "commuter bike". It's easy to complain about the crappy weather and not having a chance to have a good ride on your "expensive" bikes. So it dawned on me that I ought to put up some pics of my workhorse. This winter has been harsh and with hardly a single thing done to it, this guy has never complained. I've used it multiple times as a shovel to pick my way through the drifts. It's eaten it on the ice covered roads (I think they ran out of salt here!). And yet, it just keeps on working, and hasn't had a mechanical to speak of, a tribute to riding a simple bike!

That is a nice color maybe for the next bike (and there will be one soon), but I don't think this bike will be getting any paint before TI. I don't want to cut corners; I want to get it done right. I talked to Keith Anderson and got a quote for all that I want done, but it would be 3-5 weeks, with an ideal of 3 full weeks for the clear coat to cure before building it up. That on top of some finish work I've left to do. I may just give it a rattlecan primer job for the short term, which really sucks cause I wanted to show it off a little to youse genuinely that care.

Sounds very cool to have Keith Anderson do the job. It'll just get you a lot of fun questions when you ride it at TI:) "So what kind of frame is that?"

I just figured if you needed an idea, to pick your favorite brew and paint your new favorite bike that color:)

Mmm. Wonder if they could duplicate the "Rubinator"? That's a local mix at Thompson's brew pub, Terminator Stout and Ruby - deep red. I want my next frame build to be either a road or cross frame (deep red almost black or purple) with a solid seat mast with Deda dark metal components.

Keith does some amazing things, but he charges. I know he'll make my frame look like I'd hope it'd look. So, it's probably worth the wait and the cost.
